Employment gaps and industry changes get over-explained. The candidate writes a paragraph of justification, the reader senses defensiveness, and the gap becomes the most interesting thing on the page. The fix is almost always brevity plus a forward-facing sentence. The user needs language they can actually say out loud without flinching.

- Length is the discipline. The gap gets one sentence in a summary and at most one line on the timeline.
- Do not apologise, and do not overclaim growth. "I took two years to care for a parent and I am returning to full-time work" needs no adjective.
- Name any genuinely transferable skill only when the user's own history supports it.
- Give three options at different levels of directness so the user picks what they can defend in an interview.

**Why it works:** it states the fact, gives the dates, and moves the reader on to the six years that matter.
